A friend of mine who works in Spokane, WA snapped this picture (near Montgomery and Argonne) and sent it to me. Someone at the road department obviously messed up. I wonder if they recognized the mistake and were “too busy” with other tasks or if they just never looked to see what the message was [...]

I hated this word when I was a sophomore in high school and then again in college. However, when I was a junior and a senior…I thoroughly enjoyed using this word when the need arose.
Sophomoric: immature, bombastic, shallow, and superficial.
“The junior scolded the tenth graders, calling their immature behavior sophomoric.”
This word is derived [...]

My laptop ran one of its annoying updates the other day and this unsightly little dialog box appeared on my screen. Gauche: awkward or clumsy, lacking social graces
“His attempts at humor weren’t funny; they were gauche.”
In modern French, the word gauche means “left” which derived indirectly from the Latin word “sinistra” meaning left-handed.
This is an intriguing word to me for several reasons:

I’m left handed. I don’t think I’m awkward, clumsy, or lacking in social graces though. [...]

Lyndon B. Johnson was certainly not a copywriter. He also wasn’t one of my favorite presidents either. However, he is responsible for a statement that I think would be a great mantra for a copywriter who desires to always create great, relevant, to the point content.

“What convinces is conviction. Believe in the argument you’re advancing. [...]
