It’s Been Too Long, So Here We Go!

Posted by TimMc | Posted in Just for Fun, Oops | Posted on 20-06-2011

It’s been too long since I have posted anything here and I apologize. It’s been busy!

But, in spite of not posting funny signs and other things that pique my interest I’ll have you know that I have been collecting items with the intention of posting them. So, at least I’m thinking and planning – right?

A couple of months ago, my brother sent me the following picture while he was attending a hockey game in Spokane. This picture is a “double-whammy” in my opinion. First of all, there is the creep factor of having two guys show up wearing matching, specialized jerseys. Second, there is the obvious misspelling of the word, psycho.

1. If you’re going to go out with your buddy and spend money on having someone print up customized jerseys for you it would be wise to make sure that you’re spelling the words correctly!

2. If you’re a screen printer or any type of printing company shouldn’t you exercise some initiative to ensure that what you’re printing is correct?

Anyhow…this one made for a few good laughs. I hope you enjoy it.

Someone Please Explain This to Me…

Posted by TimMc | Posted in Just for Fun | Posted on 04-04-2011

My family and I just wrapped up a glorious vacation to Yosemite. While there, I snapped this picture in the men’s room in Curry Village. I cannot figure out the significance of this sign at all. I’ve never seen another one like it anywhere else either and I’ve been in a great deal of national parks.

So, I’m all ears…let me know.

Thanks!

Their, They’re, and There

“So tired of rich people forking over $6k to cry at #TED for 3 days a year. Their so moved but their just their to do business networking.”

This was actually tweeted on Sunday by someone who has almost 95,000 people that follow their updates on Twitter. Unbelievable! He’s zero for three in using the correct word in the same sentence. Obviously this guy doesn’t like TED (www.TED.com). However, while trying to bash/scorn TED members, he has made himself look ridiculous in the process.

So, in keeping with the short and sweet theme that I started in my “Lose and Loose” post, here’s a simple way to keep yourself out of the “I’m attempting to be cool with my tweet, but in reality I just made myself look really stupid” club:

Their – possessive case of they. Their time. Their organization. Their money to spend on the TED conference if they so desire.

They’re – a CONTRACTION which means They are. They’re going to the TED conference and will spend some of their money.

There – a place. Not here, but there. They are going there for the TED conference where they’re probably going to spend some of their money.

Here’s how his tweet should have looked: “So tired of rich people forking over $6k to cry at #TED for 3 days a year. They’re so moved but they’re just there to do business networking.”

I understand that we all make mistakes and really, I’m okay with it. However, if you’re going to fire off a tweet dripping with a little venom like this one and you know it is going to be read by tens of thousands of people, it would probably be a good idea to double check what you’ve written before you hit the ‘Update’ button.

Ridiculous Product Warning Labels

warning-label

I thought this was an entertaining article from Fox News today. Personally, my favorite was the Children’s Dimetapp warning, “be careful when driving a motor vehicle.” Most of these warnings are absolutely ludicrous. The article lists only a few examples, so I thought it might be fun to come up with some additional ones that could be posted here in the blog. So…do you have any good examples? Leave a comment and let’s create a list of our own ridiculous product warnings.

Thanks!

Top Ten Rock and Roll Spam Headlines

Posted by TimMc | Posted in Just for Fun, Shameless Promotion | Posted on 30-07-2008

Recently, I participated in a fun discussion at BlogCatalog where we came up with clever headlines for spam emails that involved rock-n-roll bands or performers. I have to say, it was a great deal of fun to see what some people came up with as far as headlines were concerned. Today, I was very pleased to see that two of the headlines I (McWriters) created were listed in the top ten! WooHoo!!!

Anyhow, take a moment and check out all of the great headlines. There are some really good, creative ones there. For all of you spammers out there…DON’T STEAL OUR HEADLINES!

Kudos to TheBigRuski for putting the discussion together and creating the top ten list!
